Pet insurance recomendations?
Question:
Hi Phil, Thanks for the info. I tried to call them today to tell them the error about the cat’s coloring but they said to call back in two days for it to get into the computer. You mentioned that you have to have both insurance companies because of your 14 year old cat. I was wondering if I have my cats insured now and they are still young, will the insurance company some day say we are no longering going to give you insurance because your cats are old. Can they cut you off like that after many years? That doesn’t seem right to me. That is probably when I will need it most. Also do I have to ask my vet if he accepts this insurance company? I didn’t do that. In answer to your question, yes it is comforting to have this coverage. I have been thinking about it for awhile now and it feels good to finally have signed up. Well, I am about to obtain a classic Siamese and I am wondering if anyone has any suggesetions for a good pet insurance company. I’ve heard some are better than others. Thanks for any recomendations. If yow are in the UK, Petplan is VERY good – they are a little more expensive than most, but their efficency is second to none. When they had to pay a rather large vets bill for me, they recieved my claim form and reponded with a check within 48 hours. Helen M

Here are two you may want to look into. I use this one, there’s a $40 deductible per visit but it pays 100% of the bill and meds. You can get an online quote, and sign up. http://www.veterinarypetinsurance.com/vpi_user/ This one has no deductible but pays only 80% of the bill. For my area, the rates are higher than the first company. http://www.premierpetinsurance.com/orderprocess/quote.asp Phil. — "Cats’ have no masters, just friends" Cat health info & more: http://maxshouse.com

Hi Phil, I just signed up for the pet insurance you talked about. I had gotten a brochure from them before but lost it. I put my cat’s color in as bi-color and the other one as orange. When I checked the information it was correct but then it changed it to biscuit colored and sandy colored. When it said to go back and modify it, I picked that. When I went back it did say bi-color and orange which was correct, but when I went to continue again it changed it to biscuit and sandy. Should I tell them about this because what if in the future they try and say that I am trying to get coverage on two cats that I didn’t sign up. Also what exactly is the policy term? They mention what procedures are covered and they say per term, but I don’t know what the term is. Thanks. Hi Diane, The terms are for one year. As with any insurance policy, make absolutely sure all the information is correct – yours matches theirs. Insurance companies HATE to pay and look for any reason to deny a claim. (I’m still waiting for a chunk from the flood damage caused by Floyd!). Both of these pet insurance companies are pretty good, though. I have to use both because one won’t cover my 14 year old. Three are with Premier, and one is with Vet Pet – both take about 3-4 weeks to reimburse. My vet accepts the insurance, so it saves me the trouble. Comforting to know that no matter turns up (hopefully nothing will) your cat will always get the best possible care, isn’t it? Smart move, Diane!
