Silly Cat…

Question:

My Cat who is about 6 or 8 months old…. When he goes out side he Calls to the birds. I Swear he is calling them to come over! He just wants to play with them – nothing more!

Response:

During nesting season (now) birds can actually attack cats.  Two species known to do this are the Mockingbirds and the Blue Jays and there may be others I am not aware of.  Be careful that your kitty does not lose an eye. One of my barn cats  lost part of an ear to a Mockingbird.

Response:

<When he goes out side he Calls to the birds. I Swear he is calling them to come over! He just wants to play with them – nothing more!> Cats "play" with birds. They press down with their paw, toy with them, and many grab the bird and shake back & forth. Perhaps a visit to the libary to see a book on cat behavior will help you discover new things ’bout cat behavior.

Response:

Uh… I have had cats for many, many years! (Or rather— They have had me!) I guess you missed my point…. But if one needs to explain a humorous situation – then all the humor is lost!! He will soon realize (Maybe!) that calling to a Bird is not the best way to have a bird come over and visit! He is a Loveable, cute cat – but not the brightest bulb in the Chandelier!
