HELP: Cat behavior, lost kittens
Question:
Hi all, I need urgent help regarding feline cat behavior. Yesterday I got back home, and my four, three month old kittens were gone. Just couldn’t find them anywhere. I’ve contacted the local authorities, and they didn’t collect stray cats. Is it possible that (a) my cat hid them, or (b) my cad chased them away? The kittens lived in my house since they were born, is there a reason for them not to come back in any case? I’ve also noticed weird cat behavior. She comes to the house, eats, and then rush back to the woods behind the house. When I tried to follow her, she just sat on the road and didn’t move. Any help is really appreciated
Response:
We used to have a mother cat that hid her kittens. The most probable cause, however, is that she is teaching them to be self-sufficient hunters and took them outside to give them training. If you can’t follow her in the dark (most people can’t as cats see and hear so well) try putting food out for the kittens and calling them. It must be very upsetting for you to have lost the ‘little family’ all at once, and hopefully, they will follow her home again. The above is very true – cats will and do move their litters. Regards, Helen S and good luck in finding them. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text ->Jeff Heuer & Bridget the Cat >Fresno, CA USA > DesertFox and Bridget’s Place > (http://home.earthlink.net/~dsertfox/cat.htm)
