Biting Cat
Question:
My daughter is 10 and knows all of the cat’s signals as to when she has had enough. They have been buddies since day one which makes this behavior all the more confusing. There have been several other incidents that we have not worried about, scratching or biting, thinking that the cat was stressed or got a little rough playing. The cat does seem to be focusing this negative attention on my oldest daughter. We are new to the area, so there aren’t many people that we can ask to take the cat. If you have any ideas about how to find a good home, let me know. I’m just not sure if people will be willing to take a biter,

Ed, There is an excellent book by Grace McHatty & Tim Couzens titled "My Cat is Driving Me Crazy". We have had wonderful results with a variety of cat behavioral problems. Your local bookstore may not have it, but you can probably get it quickly on-line. There are 5 pages of remedies for aggression, for different feline personalities, so I won’t try to list them here. If, however, you cannot find the book, let me know, & I will scan this section in & e-mail it to you, Jon * Sent from RemarQ http://www.remarq.com The Internet’s Discussion Network * The fastest and easiest way to search and participate in Usenet – Free!

Checked on amazon.com and the book is out of print. We would appreciate the scanned section! Ed

Okay, 1) Please don’t put her to sleep, there are always more options. 2) How old is your daughter? New? She (cat) is possibly threatened by the sudden removal of affection…does the several months tie in with the daughter? — Peace freedom & justice Deanna

We have had our cat for more than 5 years. Adopted her when she was about one year old. She absolutely adores my husband. Has eyes for no one else. She often begs for him to pet/play with her. Rolls over on her back, etc. However, if he is not careful, she will bite him, drawing blood. Any suggestions? Thanks, Lu Ann
Response:
That happens to me to, when I play with the cats I usually get them pretty wound up, when they start really biting and clawing I just stop and let him or her calm down and relax. Just like kids, when they get way too worked up, give them a time out. –Steve
